Historical ambience with the quality of a new building in the Palais an der Oper – DLA Piper, Munich - Project of the B+D division Complete Interior Fit-Out

For the international law firm DLA Piper, a modern office world has been created in the Munich “Palais an der Oper“ within only nine months. The new opera hall has also been renovated elaborately and has been equipped with the latest technology.

The project required extensive and statically elaborate interferences in the shell – from breaches for intercommunication staircases to the ten-ton heavy steel platform with bearing ventilation duct for the gallery in the opera hall. The biggest challenge was the construction site logistics in the city-location. Strongly regulated and short delivery times as well as missing storage possibilities required just-in-time deliveries and consequently a high coordination between the project- and construction site team and flexible working hours.

Beyond the structural- and steelworks, the scope of services of B+D included the drywall works, the installation of cooling- and acoustic ceilings, fire protection sliding doors and fire curtains to safeguard the staircases and escape routes, the supply technology and floor works in parquet, natural stone and carpet. To delineate the corridor-, office- and meeting rooms from each other, system-glass walls were installed. Offices and working surfaces in open-space-areas got luminous ceilings for the improvement of the light situation and the spatial delineation.

The opera hall itself gains maximum flexibility in its use due to mobile system partition walls – from three separately usable meeting rooms to the entirely open area for big events.

The whole building ensemble meets the energy standard “Green Building“ and is certificated according to the “silver“-standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen DGNB).
